Wayne Campus Expansion

In 2021, the ECAT (Erie Center for Arts & Technology) Wayne building officially opened to the public as a hope for education, arts for all ages, career development programs, and as an anchor of the revitalization of East Avenue. With the growth of class sizes and demand for trained young professionals in the medical field, and the need to continue creating a bastion of development for the eastside, BUILD CDC and its board made the decision to expand ECAT Wayne's footprint.

In 2026, BUILD purchased the building and property owned by the Wayne Park Baptist Temple  to turn the entire parcel of land into the ECAT Wayne Campus. In the acquisition, BUILD gained the entire building, grass lot, and parking lot to connect ECAT Wayne to the east. With the purchase, ECAT Wayne will expand the UPMC Jameson School of Nursing footprint to now host a state-of-the-art simulation lab as well as administrative (admissions and financial aid) offices in the former Wayne Park Baptist Temple building. ECAT Wayne will also have a larger dedicated parking lot able to accommodate the growing student and professional population of the center. Construction and renovations are underway to meet the growing demands of the Erie community.
